Needles and pins

...needling, stitching and itching whilst still waiting to start sewing. Maybe tomorrow the repair lady said..... Until then, here's an idea of a tote bag.

Waiting and stitching....

My poor finger tips, ripped by needles. I needled together my idea of the make-up bags. They will have lining too of course and also look a lot neater once they're properly sown together.

Test control

So washing went well, now I feel stuck impatiently waiting for my s-e-w-i-n-g machine.... how many weeks will it take? I've decided to make a type of make-up bag out of this print. Black & white and grey & black. Had to have a go at adding some gold and glitter as well but decided to leave print as it is. I think the plain print looks crisp and beautiful on the white fabric in particular.

Hurrah!

I did the very frightening wash test today, to see if my prints would keep through the washing and they did. Praise the Lord! Only one of my first prints of the 20s chick on a linen tea towel turned a bit yellow. Probably because I nervously ironed it too much. Looked more burnt then damaged by washing... Well less ironing is hardly bad news, sooo very woopi doo happy with the results. Even the glittery bits stayed.

Perhaps postcards....

Got my thinking cap on and whilst toying around with bits and pieces that I've cut out to make prints of, I thought these lips would look good as postcards. No? Hein? Yes!!

The details...

Blessed by the presence of a real dress-maker (thank you Sil!) I had the next sunglasses bag made today. A little bit neater of course and with a lining which made a big difference for the better so lining it will be in the future. These pics shows fronts and backs and some of the lining. Will also get a "stopper" for the cord.....

Sewing!

God help me, I have so many friends who are great at sewing but they live on the other side of the world..... I have one friend to save me here though and I'll see her tomorrow! Until then this is what I've achieved so far - a little sunglasses protection bag, isn't it cute? Grey backside. I'll probably change the string later but this golden one was all I had at home.

What to do next....

..once I get the perfect prints I like to sew little make-up bags of this.

New print...

...with three colours. Will do them much neater next time, these trials were a bit rushed so not perfect but I like the red and gold tones on the grey fabric.
